Yellowstone Grand Prismatic Spring in High Country News

Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone by Dave Walsh, in High Country News

A photograph of mine, made at Yellowstone National Park’s Grand Prismatic Spring, in Wyoming, USA, has been published print and online by High Country News magazine, to accompany a rather cheerful book review about “America’s next devastating earthquake”.

Read: How to know what we don’t know about natural disasters.

Here’s the original photo:

Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park
Steam erupts from Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The largest hot spring in the United States, it’s also the world’s third largest, with a diameter of 90m, and a depth of some 50m. The colours are thanks to pigmented bacteria growing in the microbial mats that surround the spring water, which is full of minerals. Copyright Dave Walsh 2014.
