A photograph of mine, made at Yellowstone National Park’s Grand Prismatic Spring, in Wyoming, USA, has been published print and online by High Country News magazine, to accompany a rather cheerful book review about “America’s next devastating earthquake”.

Here’s the original photo:

Steam erupts from Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The largest hot spring in the United States, it’s also the world’s third largest, with a diameter of 90m, and a depth of some 50m. The colours are thanks to pigmented bacteria growing in the microbial mats that surround the spring water, which is full of minerals. Copyright Dave Walsh 2014.
